Recently we wrote to the Baltinglass Municipal District urging them to carry out an amenities & sporting facilities needs assessment for the district. This audit would help to identify the many facilities which are urgently needed in the district such as football pitches, basketball courts, a swimming pool, parks, running tracks and community halls. Having a report like this would be hugely beneficial for future funding applications as well as being beneficial for planning and development in our district.
We were delighted to hear that our proposal was discussed at the Baltinglass Municipal District meeting on Monday September 27th. District Cathaoirleach, Cllr Avril Cronin has told us that the audit was widely supported and that both the District Engineer and Administrator spoke in favour of it as well as a number of Councillors. It is hoped that they will be able to move forward with this soon.
We will continue to work with Wicklow County Council, our local representatives, community groups and sports clubs from across the Baltinglass Municipal District to ensure that our communities receive the facilities & amenities that we need here in West Wicklow.
